Mission Statement Pedal America aims to get the message out that bicycling is fun, economical, eco-friendly, and a fun means of activity with friends and family that can be enjoyed safely!
Creator’s Vision As an avid cyclist for 28 years and a passionate fundraiser, I have consistently searched for ways to use bicycling as a means for making a difference in other people’s lives. Pedal America is simply one vehicle toward making that happen.
I feel that as an American culture we need to support initiatives that reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, and our waistlines, while increasing physical activity and cultivating new friendships across the country. As businesses, schools, restaurants, theatres, museums, libraries, park districts, townships, and cities add more bicycle racks, lanes and pathways, the country is poising itself to make travel and relaxation by bicycle more attractive and accessible than ever. Thus the time is ripe for adults, friends, and families to do their part by returning to the basic enjoyments of cycling. Each 30-minute episode of the magazine-style format taps into a U.S. locale that offers a bicycle -friendly environment to reveal its history, culture, people; educates adults and their children in safe cycling while inspiring them to ride; and encourages motorists to share the road so all consumers can connect with safe driving and cycling habits.
